Use of Images on your Website

How images are used on your Website can have a huge impact on the message(s) you want to convey to your online audience. Good use of pictures might be to:

If you are a photographer or artist, for example, you will want to show as much of your work as possible. Put them in a Photo Gallery! However, if you are not showing your work or selling products through pictures then limit them to the relevancy of each page or article. Too many pictures on some Websites can be overwhelming and distracting to your visitors.

The picture to the right of the Haitian man walking between traffic, selling newspapers & yelling out about the current state of Haiti would be a great picture for a news Website. The picture tells a story - almost by itself. Notice how he and the newspaper stand out.

Example: This "Door To Success" image would add impact to a business book being sold on a Website. It sends the message that if you read the book, it can help you be successful.
